Sow cineraria seeds for flowering in December, & pot seedlings into 3 in. pots when large enough. Sow cucumbers, melons & sweet corn. Move tuberous begonias & gloxinias into 5 in. pots On warm days, shade plants in flower, using plastic blinds or shading painted on the glass. Water vigorously-growing plants generously & give them a weekly liquid feed. Take cuttings of regal pelargoniums. Pot on canna roots into 8 in. pots. Move large Campanula pyramidalis plants to a sheltered position outdoors, supporting the flower spikes with canes. Stop laterals growing from main stems of cucumbers, & remove all male flowers & tendrils. Continue to support tomato stems with strings or canes, & remove side shoots regularly. Feed tomatoes every week or ten days after the fruits begin to swell. Plant tomatoes in the border of a cold greenhouse, in rings on aggregate or grow-bags. Plant melons in cold frames.
